A little train along the Loir
The little train of Thoré-La-Rochette is a charming green and blue fifties’ railcar, which follows the path of the Loir for around twenty kilometers and back again, all in three hours!
Starting from a station that also houses a centre for wine and local produce from the Vendôme region, it first goes to the platform of Varennes, site of the TGV high-speed train world record (515 kph in 1990… what a contrast!) before doing an about-turn to the tunnel of Saint-Rimay and Montoire station (meeting between Pétain and Hitler in 1942), then the troglodyte village and hill of Trôo, opposite the church of Saint-Jacques-Des-Guérets and its frescoes. A “senator’s train” for a bucolic trip.
